Underage Drinking Prevention 

The Austin Coalition for Healthy Lifestyles was formed in the Spring of 2006 as the Coalition on Underage Drinking Under the Illinois Department of Human Services, Strategic Prevention Framework - Statewide Incentive Grant. (SPF/SIG).

Currently, the Austin Coalition boasts a membership roster of over 25 members and represents all 12 sectors of the community including: Parents, Business Community, Media, Schools (Public, Private, Alternative), Youth-Serving Organizations, Law Enforcement Agencies, Religious or Fraternal Organizations, Civic and Volunteer Groups, Healthcare Professionals, State, Local, and/or Tribal Governmental Agencies and other organizations involved in reducing substance abuse.

It was formally developed and defined to meet the definition of community coalitions as defined by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America and SAMHSA/CSAP Drug Free Communities Program.

The Coalition currently provides BASSET (Beverage Alcohol Seller and Server Education Training),
Police Compliance Checks and Enforcement, and a Youth Communications Campaign on the Westside of Chicago.
